Hari Sauri: Today Prabhupada chatted for a while with Pushta Krishna and me before the guests arrived. Such informal conversations are always extremely sweet, and they give us the opportunity to ask specific questions and also to sometimes find out more details about Srila Prabhupada's past activities.

Pushta Krishna Maharaja asked if many people had come to hear from him before his coming to the West.

People were coming, Prabhupada said, but he had no time to visit many places or people because he was busy with his writing. To me it seemed very significant that Prabhupada had reversed the usual trend; generally someone retires and dedicates their remaining days to writing, but Prabhupada wrote and then came out to teach his writings by practical example.

Pushta Krishna added that he didn't think Krishna consciousness would have had much effect upon people without Srila Prabhupada's personal example. Srila Prabhupada modestly agreed. That was the example of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, he said - to teach by personal example.
