Yasodanandana Swami and his party returned today from a trip to Badrinath.
Caitya Guru dasa arrived from Chandigarh, via Delhi, and he saw Srila Prabhupada before the morning program. He confirmed arrangements for a pandala program in Chandigarh from October 13th-17th. Srila Prabhupada has agreed to attend.
Caitya Guru also informed Prabhupada that Harikesa Swami left for Europe, apparently without receiving Prabhupada's letter, so it seems that after his initial difficulty Krishna has allowed him to go.
Caitya Guru also saw Gopala Krishna prabhu in Delhi. He said that Gopala does not want to come to Vrindavana, despite receiving Prabhupada's letter, because he felt he could not face all the politics Hansaduta and Haihaya have made against him. He spoke of returning to the United States to be with his wife and child.
Prabhupada was not very happy to hear this; he was more disappointed than angry. "So far I can understand he is using this as an excuse. His real reason is that this GBC business is troublesome, so better give it up; and because he is attached to family?dehapatya-kalatradishv atma-sainyeshv asatsv api/ tesham pramatto nidhanam pasyann api na pasyati [Persons devoid of atma-tattva do not inquire into the problems of life, being too attached to the fallible soldiers like the body, children and wife. Although sufficiently experienced, they still do not see their inevitable destruction; Bhag. 2.1.4]?then 'let me go be with the wife.'"
