Prabhupada is very pleased with Tamal Krishna Maharaja's organizational skills

Ten GBCs are here now, representing both North and South America. They had meetings for most of yesterday and again today. While Srila Prabhupada took his massage they came onto the roof of the building to inform him of their decisions. They have decided to make Pushta Krishna Swami the GBC for the West Coast, from Berkeley to points north. He is taking Jagadisa prabhu's place, who, on the insistence of Srila Prabhupada, is now full-time GBC for education. They appointed Harikesa Swami as Prabhupada's new secretary. However Pushta Krishna Maharaja will remain in the post until we leave for England in three days. The body also confirmed Srila Prabhupada's appointment of Tamal Krishna Maharaja as GBC for New York and Radha-Damodara TSKP to replace Madhudvisha. They added life membership and trusteeship of ISKCON properties to his portfolio.

Prabhupada is very pleased with Tamal Krishna Maharaja's organizational skills. Both the temple and Radha-Damodara TSKPs are quickly clearing away the enormous debts which the previous temple administration incurred, even though this accelerated debt liquidation is preventing money from being sent to India. Satsvarupa Goswami and Ghanasyama dasa arrived a few days ago with Mahabuddhi prabhu, who has just returned from his highly successful tour of the libraries and universities in India. They met with His Divine Grace several times, presenting him with a written plan to expand the Library Party's activities around the globe. Running out of places to go in America, they proposed going to Europe, Asia and the South Seas. Prabhupada read their report and approved it, giving them his wholehearted support, even to the point that when Gopala Krishna prabhu phoned from India to insist that Mahabuddhi return, Prabhupada said no, that he must now do a world tour.

Prabhupada had also suggested that Gurudasa Swami join them as a classroom lecturer. However, the GBC, while approving the Library Party members' plans, decided Satsvarupa Maharaja was more needed in the USA, and should remain to properly oversee the temples in his jurisdiction. Srila Prabhupada accepted their decision, even though it overruled his own previous approval. He was happy to see his leading managers cooperatively working together to solve problems and promote the preaching, and he gladly deferred to them. The GBC men also dealt with one extra item on their agenda: Srila Prabhupada himself. Concerned about his health, they requested him not to travel or give classes, and to rest in New York until his health improves. Srila Prabhupada modestly accepted their concern for him. He tipped his head. "I have no objection."
