Spiritual Vision

Satsvarupa Dasa GoswamiOnce, Jayadvaita Swami asked Srila Prabhupada, “What if the spiritual master makes mistakes?” Prabhupada pointed out that to see such discrepancies is a material viewpoint. “Acharya is not God, omniscient. He is servant of God. His business is to preach the bhakti cult … That is the perfection.” The Ganges water may appear bubbly and contaminated, but one who has spiritual vision will take his bath there, knowing that the water is pure. Similarly, one may look at the external appearance of the spiritual master and see faults. That is offensive. One with spiritual vision will surrender at the pure devotee’s lotus feet regardless of material appearances. If one has doubts after reading the sastra, one should present those doubts before the spiritual master. He should inquire submissively and respectfully as Arjuna inquired from Krishna.
