The world of darkness...

Dhananjaya: George asked if he should move into the temple and shave up. Prabhupada said, "No. What you are doing through your music is much more important. You are already a devotee of Krishna. So continue." George had written a song for Lakshmi Shankar, Ravi Shankar's sister-in-law, called, "Krishna, Where Are You?" Prabhupada listened to that recording in George's presence and said, "This is the correct Gaudiya Vaishnava mood. We should be crying out, 'Krishna, where are You?' We should not think that we have captured Krishna, that we know Krishna." He said, "This is how you can serve our Society best." Another time we went to George Harrison's house after a program at Redding. Shyamasundar could not find George, but he knew where we should wait for him, so we went inside. As we waited, it got dark. Finally George arrived with a big bouquet of flowers and a basket of fruit. He would never come empty-handed but would always bring an offering for Srila Prabhupada. When he presented these he paid full dandavats. Srila Prabhupada said, "The purpose of the human form of life is to leave this world of darkness and go back to the world of light." As he was saying this, the room was getting darker and darker because there was no light on. Prabhupada emphasized this point. He was expert at using any situation that he would find himself in. "This is the world of darkness. This world requires illumination. The only illumination we have is from the sun and the moon. Without the sunshine, there would be no light and no life. When the sun sets, we must call upon artificial illumination, electricity or fire. But in the world of light there is no need for any kind of artificiality." He said: "This is where we all wish to live, in the world of light, not in the world of darkness." George appreciated his words very much.
