Tenth anniversary of ISKCON

Chaturatma Dasa: In 1976, it was the tenth anniversary of ISKCON, ten years ISKCON had been around. Now we are celebrating the fiftieth anniversary. Ten years it was a big deal. And this was in New York and the very first Ratha-yatra down Fifth Avenue. And the devotees were all very excited and everybody from all over ISKCON had come to New York to be with Srila Prabhupada. And by some arrangement of assisting and helping, working with others I got some access and was able to get up on Subhadra’s cart and sit next to Prabhupada and fan him with a peacock feather all the way down the Fifth Avenue. I didn’t have any particular exchange with him but I saw the exchanges and conversations he had with others. So I got this service.

There is actually a nice video of that. You see that Prabhupada is there, Hari Sauri is there and Tamal Krishna Maharaja is there and this one and that one. You see a peacock feather going up and down, you don’t see who is holding it, but now you know that is me.
