Very pleasing picture

Gargamuni Dasa: When I was president in Los Angeles at the Watseka Avenue, Prabhupada had a small copy of that picture on his altar. And one time I came into his room while he was chanting his japa, he was sitting down. And I offered my obeisances and he looked at the picture and pointed. He said, "This picture is very pleasing to me." And he then he quoted the verse by Madhvacharya acintya-bhedabheda-tattva. And if you look closely at the picture you cannot tell the distinction between Radha and Krishna's body. Yet they are two.

That's why Madhvacharya is holding the sign two, on his vyasasana, that there's always two yet they are one. Acintya-bhedabheda-tattva. So in the Srimad-Bhagavatam lecture of October 5th 1976 in Vrindavana, Prabhupada says in his lecture, "Perhaps you have seen the picture that Radha, that Krishna and Radharani one body the left-hand side is Radharani and the right-hand side is Krishna. Srila Jiva Gosvami has explained this and is quoted in the Chaitanya-caritamrita, Adi Lila 1.5. Radha and Krishna, They are one but for pastimes, they have become two. And again Radha Krishna has united as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu."

Chaitanya feeling the ecstasy. Krishna wanted to know the ecstasy of Radharani's love. So this is in a lecture where Prabhupada refers to the painting, but he told me personally that the picture was very pleasing and he always took it with him when he traveled from Los Angeles. He would take that picture and carry it in his white bag. Prabhupada always carried a little white bag. And this was all his personal things and he wouldn't let anybody touch it or carry it. He was very adamant about that. Nobody could touch it or carry it. He carried it himself.
