The crowd of devotees were so enthusiastic that Srila Prabhupada allowed them to offer guru-puja

We arrived in Delhi at 9:30 p.m. By the time we got to the new temple at 21A Feroz Gandhi Road, Lajpat Nagar III, it was about 10:15 p.m. yet there was still a big turn-out of 2-300 local people to greet Srila Prabhupada. He was very pleased to see this. It is practically the first time we have had such a response at our own temple in the capital. Lokanatha Swami was also present with his traveling party and the many new bhaktas he has recruited. The crowd of devotees were so enthusiastic that Srila Prabhupada allowed them to offer guru-puja to him in the temple room before he went up to his quarters. Once in his room he talked a little with Gopala Krishna prabhu and Gargamuni Swami, who has just arrived from Calcutta. Then he took rest. By the time I completed his evening massage it was 1:20 a.m. August 26th, 1976 This new temple is a big improvement over the old Bengali Markets building. The place is in good condition and in a good neighborhood. It is a two-story, semi-detached house, with separate servant's quarters (now used as offices) at the back. On the ground floor, the small temple room has a capacity for about fifty people and opens onto a well-kept lawn at the front. At the back of this there are several rooms for the brahmacaris and an adequate kitchen. Upstairs, Srila Prabhupada has been given a large front room overlooking the lawn. It can hold up to one hundred people for darsana. Adjoining it is a bedroom with an attached bathroom. Next to that, along an open landing, there are two rooms, the smaller of which has been allocated for use by Srila Prabhupada's servants. Srila Prabhupada seems very satisfied with the new facility.
