Indian people know to respect sadhu

Dadhibaksha Dasa: Till 1977, I was here, I was a pujari at that time. Prabhupada was very sick. So at that time we brought Prabhupada in a wheelchair for darshana of Krishna Balarama. At ten o'clock, they would bring Prabhupada near that tamala tree. Then Prabhupada would do like that (folded hand gesture) in front of Krishna Balarama. All the gurukula boys were there and did kirtana for half an hour.

Then, one day what happened, all the Indian people, wanted to come near Prabhupada for darshana. One devotee was putting them back, not to come and disturb Prabhupada like that. Prabhupada just saw that and he called that devotee and said, "What you are doing?" That devotee said, "Prabhupada, they want to come near you, touch your feet, and have darshana. You may get disturbed, so I am moving them back.

Prabhupada said, "No, why do you want to do that? Because Indian people know how to respect sadhus. You don't know, but they know the culture. So they want to come near to me and get my darshana. Don’t stop them. Let them come for darshana." Then the devotee said, "Come! Come!" and all the people came in front of Prabhupada. Prabhupada was just folding his hands and they had darshana and then they were going back. Prabhupada was very merciful to all the living entities. Even when he was sick, he was caring for all the people, all the living entities, that they should take darshana of sadhus and purify themselves.
