My disciples cannot go, I will not go

Gargamuni Dasa: While Prabhupada was there, different GBC men, Rameshvara came, and we had very nice discussions. You should look in the Vedabase or in the room conversations. There are at least 20 or 30 nice conversations on very many topics that Prabhupada, including World War III - how it would start, everything.

So I made a little list of some of the conversations. From Bhubaneshwar, Prabhupada wanted to go and see the ocean at Puri. He wanted to look at different properties. He was interested in building a temple because he refused to go and take darshana in the Puri temple because his disciples couldn't go. Just see! Prabhupada wouldn't go and get darshana for himself because of us, because we couldn't go. Just see how loving and merciful Prabhupada was and respectful of his foreign disciples. He didn't treat us as mlecchas, as candalas, he treated us as Vaishnavas. He even foregoes his own darshana, just out of respect, because he said, "My disciples cannot go. I will not go."

He encouraged me and Gurukripa, because Gurukripa was making lots of money, building the Vrindavana temple. I did my research to try and find out how much money he actually donated because he helped to build Mayapur, Bombay, and Vrindavana, probably Hyderabad. So I did some research to find out how much did he give. And it came. Then I asked him about how much? It came to almost two million dollars. And that's a lot of money in 1975 and '76 in those places and '77, that’s a lot of money. If you multiply that by 10-20 times, it's like 50 million dollars in today's money. So that's what he gave. That was through my research work - I had to go through the letters, the transfers, everything. Because he would send money to Rameshvara, and this and that.

So he did all the financial service for helping Prabhupada fulfill his desire in India - for building these temples. And, for a fact, whatever he does, he's going back to Godhead for that service. Because that's the great... That is the legacy of Prabhupada - these temples that Prabhupada constructed, that will go on for centuries in Vrindavana, Bombay, Hyderabad, and Mayapur. Gurukripa took a direct hand in achieving this for Srila Prabhupada, fulfilling the desires of the spiritual master.
