Satadhanya Swami sent a report from Mayapur?his first communication with Srila Prabhupada since he took sannyasa at the Gaura Purnima festival. He has been out preaching on the boat, going village to village selling Gitar-ganas with nine gurukula boys. More recently he and Gargamuni Swami have been collecting for Mayapur in Calcutta. Now his visa has run out and he has to leave the country and re-enter again. He asked whether he should leave and return right away so that either he or Jayapataka Maharaja can remain in Mayapur while the other goes out to preach in Bengal, or whether he should go with Gargamuni Swami to the Middle East to collect funds for Mayapur.
He also gave a brief but encouraging report on Mayapur development. He said that the work on the new long building is progressing well with the ground floor completed and the upper floor under construction. Contracts for plumbing and sanitary works will be signed soon. They have planted many flowers on the grounds and they have made a lawn with park benches on the northern side of the temple. He said that because of the recent publicity, "We are being flooded with people coming to see the temple and Sri Sri Radha-Madhava."
He ended his letter with an invitation to visit, and a nice prayer. "Srila Prabhupada, we owe You everything; even for our very air of life, upon You, personally, we depend. Without You there can be no Krishna consciousness, and without Krishna consciousness, life is surely wasted and meaningless. All glories to You, Srila Prabhupada, You are Krishna's Mercy jewel, Krishna's Mercy Incarnation and You are always beyond our limited and conditioned understanding."
Srila Prabhupada was enthused by Satadhanya's book selling. "Please continue this program of preaching and distributing Gitar-gan as far as possible for this is our real business."
Pleased that many people are coming to the temple, he wrote, "It is very nice that this publicity has attracted so many people to see our mandir. This is wanted. But are you selling books from the temple?"
As far as his visa problems go, Prabhupada told him if he has an entry visa he should try to extend it, and he offered help. "What is the nature of your visa? I shall telegram you if something can be done from here."
Finally he responded to Satadhanya's humble submission of reliance. "As you depend on me I similarly depend on you, parasparatam. The brahmanas and ksatriyas should cooperate, that is the Vedic civilization. The hands and legs should cooperate with the brain in order for the whole society to work properly."
