It is the Vedic system that after 50 years of life one has to take to Vanaprastha, then take to Sannyasa.

Prabhupada was happy to get a letter today from Dr. R. M. Dave, a forty-nine year-old financial expert from Ahmedabad. Dr. Dave visited Vrindavana a week ago and sat in on a darsana in the temple courtyard, during which Prem Yogi read out his translation of Prabhupada's introduction to the Srimad-Bhagavatam. Dr. Dave said he bought Bhagavad-gita As It Is and has been reading it. He described it as "an unbiased version of Great Lord Krishna's preachings, pure and chaste without any false interpretation like other books which will certainly spread your message in the world." A Ph.D. in economics and accounting, Dr. Dave enclosed his Resume which contained an impressive list of high-ranking jobs he has held in the textile industry. He is going to New York later this year and he offered his services to ISKCON: "During my spare time I can render great service to International Society in honorary capacity as I am an expert in general and financial management. At present I am devoting lot of time to chanting of Gayatri and Hare Krishna mantras and being a Brahmin by caste have never touched liquor or meat up to now due to my birth Samskaras. ... It will be both a pleasure and a privilege to serve you and your cause which will in turn purify me further and lead me towards the ultimate aim of Krishna darshan under able guidance of a great guru like you." With all the management problems he has to contend with, Srila Prabhupada was naturally keen to encourage and engage Dr. Dave. "I am very much pleased that such a highly qualified person as you desire to join our movement. We require many such persons as you to make our movement successful. Yad yad acarati sresthas tad tad evetaro janah/ sa yat pramanam kurute lokas tad anuvartate: 'Whatever action is performed by a great man, common men follow in his footsteps. And whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues.' (Bhagavad-gita, 3.21) "It is the Vedic system that after 50 years of life one has to take to Vanaprastha, then take to Sannyasa. "It will be a great pleasure to meet you again, and if possible please join us as soon as possible."
