Mahanidhi Dasa: Prabhupada followed his usual schedule of rising early to translate Srimad Bhagavatam. In Vrindavan, unlike other places, Prabhupada was readily accessible to freely counsel the devotees. After morning and evening classes, Srila Prabhupada would often give one to two hour darshans, in his rooms. There were also several evening programs held in local Brijbasi homes. It was not a coincidence that Srila Prabhupada chose to deliver a month-long lecture series on Bhakti-rasamrta-sindu (the Nectar of Devotion).
In 1933, at Srila Prabhupada's initiation, his guru maharaj, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, instructed him to study this book Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu, the lawbook on devotional service. When leaving this world in 1937, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati told his disciples: "I advise you all to preach the teachings of Rupa-Raghunath with all energy and resources. Our ultimate goal should be to become the dust of the lotus feet of Sri Sanatana, Sri Rupa and Raghunath Goswamis." Srila Prabhupada enthusiastically pursued this order by writing, in February 1950, an unpublished essay - "Science of Devotion", a summary study of the first chapter of Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu. Twenty years later, in 1970, Srila Prabhupada published Nectar of Devotion a summary study of the entire Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu.
