The dog is enjoying

Udayananda : Again in 1975 in Chicago, we were walking along the lake shoreline with Prabhupada. Because it was early in the morning, traffic was really flowing and Prabhupada asked, “Where are they going?” Someone said, “They’re going to work, Srila Prabhupada.” He said, “Just see they’re suffering. They’re simply suffering. They have made no advancement. They’re just advancing in suffering.” Then I audaciously said, “They say they’re building big skyscraper buildings, and that’s a symptom of their advancement.” Prabhupada said, “These skyscraper buildings are like pigeon holes.” He said, “They are like bird houses. They’re just pigeons in these skyscraper buildings.” He said, “They drive breakneck speed, so much anxiety in this traffic. Then they spend all day working so hard in these pigeon holes. Then they drive back in the traffic, so much suffering. And they come to their big, big house. But it’s so late they eat some food and they go to sleep. So who is enjoying this big, big house?” He said, “The dog. The dog is enjoying. They are working hard and the dog is enjoying in their big, big house.
