This article "Hare Krishna Cart Parade Today In S.F.," was published in Vallejo Times-Herald, July 6, 1974, in Vallejo, California.

One of the oldest and most stirring events still celebrated annually in Jagganath Puri, India, will be observed in San Francisco this weekend.

The 8th International Hare Krishna Jagganath Cart Festival and Parade begins its two-day festivities today, July 6, with an authentic Vedic Fair in Golden Gate Park followed on Sunday by a "larger than life" procession featuring 45-foot high chariots carrying images of Krishna deities, starting from McLaren Lodge in the Park and ending in Lindley Meadow. The event continues with a Vedic fair topped off with a traditional feast for thousands.

A spiritual highlight of the festival will be the appearance of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder and spiritual master of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).
