Bhakti Rasa Theater...

Hari Sauri: In New York, July of 1976, one evening the Bhakti-rasa Theater staged a play based on the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna from the Bhagavad-gita. It was directed by Sudama Maharaja, with Lohitaksha dasa and Nataraja dasa in the lead roles of Krishna and Arjuna. The set in the auditorium was simple, just a large cutout like a chariot; the costumes were basic; a painted backdrop depicted the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The performers' actions were mimed to Prajapati dasa's narrative. But it was approached seriously and well-performed. Prabhupada watched intently throughout the twenty-five minute production. He thought it very good.

Prabhupada was very pleased with his disciples' performances. He applauded strongly to show his appreciation, his bright eyes and face confirming his pride in them and conveying his wish that they continue their endeavors. At the end he gave a short speech to the assembled devotees who packed out the small theater. He described how Krishna comes personally to enlighten dull-headed persons and free them from ignorance.
