Partha Sarathi Das Goswami: The picture was taken on Sunday, 12 October, 1975, at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall. There are eight devotees on the stage. You may notice my head is to one side and that is because I was tired and falling asleep. Srila Prabhupada's lecture started at 2:30 p.m. If you listen to the recording of the lecture, you can hear the City Hall clock striking three. You can also hear the clock at 3:15 p.m. and that is when Srila Prabhupada finished his talk.
In the picture, Pusta Krishna Swami is holding the danda. He accepted sannyasa just fourteen months after he received his first initiation. He was about twenty-two years old. Behind Pusta Krishna Swami, is Rukma Prabhu, who is next to me. Rukma Prabhu is a likable Vaishnava. On the left of Rukma Prabhu is Gokulendra Prabhu, who is our first South African devotee. He was a particularly pleasant person and came from a high-class family. On the left of Gokulendra is Riddha Prabhu, who I think many of you may know. Riddha Prabhu contributed so much. He married Syamasundari and is now settled in Mayapur. They are wonderful Vaishnavas.
On Prabhupada's left, nearest to his walking stick is Harikesa brahmacari, who later became Harikesa Swami. I can't remember the devotee sitting next to him. On Prabhupada's far left is Adi Purush, with the yellowish kurta.
This program was wonderful. Prabhupada led the kirtana and we all danced. Prabhupada delivered his lecture and then asked for questions. There were about four or five questions, mostly from the Arya Samaj. Prabhupada left with Pusta Krishna Swami, Harikesa Prabhu, Gokulendra Prabhu and, I think, Rukma Prabhu. I stayed behind to show the film, helped the other devotees pack up and then we returned to the temple.
