From here, Prabhupada boarded the M.V. Jaladuta on one of history's most important spiritual voyage to the West, in the summer of 1965. The port is still in operation. It is a Government of India-owned property, maintained and administerd by a Government-instuted Trustee Board-Kolkata Port Trust.
