Preaching in Nepal

Dadhibaksha Dasa: After some time, Maha-Vishnu Maharaja and another devotee they were doing Library Party in India. So they came here to meet Prabhupada in Vrindavana. Prabhupada said, "You go to Nepal for preaching." They said, "Okay, we will go, but we don’t know Nepali language and Nepalese do not know English much." So Prabhupada said, "Okay, I have one Nepali boy here. You can take him along with you." Then Prabhupada called me to his quarters and said, "You go with those devotees to Nepal for some time and preach and after some time you can come back if you want." Then, I went to Nepal in 1976 along with three devotees. So, we went to Kathmandu, we preached, we distributed books. We opened one center there near Pashupathi temple.

Nepal is actually very poor country, but they are Hindus. Mostly, they worship all the different demigods. Krishna worship is very less. At that time in the beginning, it was very difficult to preach. They think they are Hindu and devotees are Westerners. They don’t like Westerners, "We are Hindu and why should we listen to them?" That preaching was continuing and I came back after 6-7 months. Again, I was a pujari here in Vrindavana temple. I was doing seva here. Then Prabhupada said that I have to go to preach also sometime. So I was going for preaching for membership, book distribution, different places and along with different devotees.
