Initiation - Vrindavana Vilasini Devi Dasi

Vrindavana Vilasini Devi Dasi: June 8, 1972, is when I met Prabhupada. And so somewhere along the line, I read the KRSNA Book and somehow or other, I really wanted to be named Vrindavana. But as you know, they usually name you after the first letter of your first name. My name was Susan. So there was no way I am going to get the name Vrindavana. But at that particular moment, it was Balarama Purnima in Los Angles.

Prabhupada was in such a Vrindavana mood. He gave the name Gopinatha, Madana Mohan, Vrindavaneshwari, Vrinda, probably more, but I don’t remember. And I was the last person. So then he called me up, and of course, he asked, "What are the four regular principles?"

For some reason, I really wanted to make Prabhupada happy. So I looked at him and I said, "Always remember Krishna and never forget Krishna."

He really liked that, because that’s, of course, the essence and he laughed. He said, "Your name is Srimati Vrindavana Vilasini Devi Dasi. It’s a name for Radharani - the one who enjoys in Vrindavana." I was just, "Woow! This is really beautiful."
