Prabhupada in Australia vs Prabhupada in India

Ambika Dasi: One very wonderful thing about Bombay was Srila Prabhupada would have darshanas, every afternoon, on top of the roof. There's so many pictures of Srila Prabhupada on the roof in Bombay. He would just come and just sit there, and either ask questions or... I was always a bit timid always to ask questions, but people would come, life members would come and it was so informal. I really noticed that when I came to Mumbai - it was such a difference. Srila Prabhupada, in Australia, always wore kurta and was…, he even looked more formal. Whereas, in India, no, he didn't…, he didn't wear kurta. He always looked very relaxed and just different - here in Bombay, in India - to what he was in the West, how he looked.

So we had these wonderful informal darshanas on the roof where all sorts of things were discussed.  Prabhupada would ask the construction crew how everything was going. All life members would come and he was always so welcoming to whoever came. He would invite them, the life members, "Aaiye, aaiye, baithiye, baithiye" and ask them how they were. He was very personal and then he would start preaching. He was just wonderful to behold.
