Niranjana Dasa: In 1974, on a morning walk, he told me to get a salary, it's already explained. Then in '75 also... Generally he will call me in his room.
I wanted to show him my Hindi translation work and wanted to read it in front, so he called me and he said, "Okay." So I read the first chapter of Perfection of Yoga, and he heard it and he approved it. Then he also mentioned that this Hindi translation work or any type of translation work should be done only by his disciple or devotee, because he said, "We don't want Hindi scholars." Because scholarship is unable to catch his expression. So he said, "I want that devotee, they should be following."
In '76, again he heard my translation. I also spoke about that incidence when I asked Srila Prabhupada, "Does spiritual master know everything." He said, "Yes."
Again the example of anyabhilasita-sunyam [Brs. 1.1.11]. I asked him that we are singing that a spiritual master is always relishing the loving affairs of Radha Krishna, pratiksanasvadana-lolupasya. He's greedy or lolup means to be greedy. And we are there, we are greedy for lust, lusty desires. So he said, "When Lord Krishna says that dharmaviruddho kamo 'smi [Bhagavad-gita 7.11], we follow that injunction. Then it is religion. Our aim is to get Krishna conscious children."
There is still one, I think mayavadi sannyasi, called Satyamitrananda Giri. They came to see Srila Prabhupada, and he was appreciating, "Oh! You have done great work, so we can work together. You converted all these to our Hindu religion." So Srila Prabhupada said, "How can we work together? Because we are saying that Krishna is the only Supreme Personality of Godhead, and you were saying, 'You are God, I am God.'" So he replied that, "No, there is a panca-upasana." Prabhupada said, "Yes, that is there, but Krishna is saying mam ekam, so He's demanding us to only surrender to Him."
So that Giri told, "Swami Karpatriji," he was also a big impersonalist, "he will refute your arguments." Srila Prabhupada said, "Nobody can refute my argument. It is not mine. Krishna is telling and I'm simply repeating His words."
