Yamuna, the GBC

Gargamuni Dasa: Regarding the philosophy of woman becoming GBC, the precedent is, Prabhupada never appointed a GBC female. He did say temple presidents could be GBC if a man is non-available, but he never had a woman GBC.

I was in his room during a Mayapur festival time. Tamala Krishna was there with me. I don't know if anybody else was there. But Prabhupada did remark that had Yamuna appeared as a man he would have appointed her a GBC. That's how good she was in management situations. She was appointed for the Vrindavana construction for the co-director for the construction, especially when it involved the decoration of the temple and the Deities. She was co-director. So, that was a very important position for her as a woman. But as far as GBC no such thing, it should not exist in our minds because Prabhupada didn't approve of it.
